Ian G. Wilkinson, KC

Ian Godfrey Wilkinson, a Jamaican by birth but regionalist by nature, is married to Khadine and has four children. Senior partner in the Jamaican law firm Wilkinson Law, he was the top student at the Norman Manley Law School in 1989, the year of his Bar Calling. He “took Silk” in 2013. 

He has an extensive civil and criminal practice in Jamaica and the English-speaking Caribbean (including Barbados, the British Virgin Islands and St. Christopher & Nevis) at all levels, appearing in many causes celébres

He has served in various civic capacities including being a three-term president of the Jamaican Bar Association and an eight-term president of the Jamaica Chess Federation. 

Jamaica made legal history in 2015 when he conceptualized an “Instrument of Administration”, a new grant of representation for use by the Public Trustee. 

A two-time published author, he has written extensively on the law and is working on three law books covering advocacy, estates and judicial review. 

An avid sportsman, he is an all-stars footballer, a two-time Jamaica veterans Chess Champion and a 12-time Chess Olympian. A polyglot, he enjoys studying foreign languages, playing sports and travelling. He lives by his maxim – “the will to win is different from the wish to win”.
