Honourable Justice Gillian Lucky, JA

Justice Gillian Lucky was appointed a High Court Judge in 2014 and currently sits in the Court of Appeal. Justice Lucky previously served as a Senior State Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), a Government Minister, Opposition Member of Parliament (MP), and member of the Criminal Justice Committee.

A committed legal educator, Justice Lucky lectured at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus and Hugh Wooding Law School, and was the Principal of the Academy of Tertiary Studies, a private tertiary level institution.

A former newspaper columnist and media host, Justice Lucky has used various platforms for public legal education. In 2019, Justice Lucky was appointed the Chairman of the Judicial Education Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (JEITT), an entity focused on transformation through education and leads the charge in the delivery of continuous judicial education to the judges, judicial officers and court administrators, in support of the administration of justice.

Justice Lucky has presented, locally and in the region, on several topics including robust case management, judicial ethics, fundamental principles of evidence, and financial crime prosecution. Recently, Justice Lucky was the Lead Facilitator for the six-month Criminal Law Practitioners Programme mentoring young attorneys in the criminal law sector.
