Justice Mohammed is a former Open Island Scholarship Recipient in Modern Studies who began his legal career as a State Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in 1987. He was appointed as the DPP in 1998 at the age of 35, then the youngest appointed DPP in the Commonwealth. In 2001, he was appointed as a Senior Counsel. Justice Mohammed served as the DPP until 2002, when he was appointed as a High Court Judge, where he presided over multiple high-profile criminal trials. In 2013, he was appointed to the Court of Appeal. Justice Mohammed has served on several key committees related to the administration of justice and criminal case management, and he is the Senior Standing Member of Trinidad and Tobago’s Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing Committee of the Judiciary. Justice Mohammed has also acted as the Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago.
