Dr Salvatore Caserta

Salvatore Caserta: Associate Professor of Sociology of Law and International Law and the Faculty of Law of the University of Copenhagen. His research examines the authority of international courts, showing how it emerges not only from formal powers but from their ability to embed practices within broader socio-political contexts. Building on this, he explores how international law and institutions shape global society, including their role in responding to democratic decay and rule-of-law backsliding. His work also investigates how lawyers and professions adapt to judicialization, digital transformations, and welfare state dynamics. Caserta is the author of International Courts in Latin America and the Caribbean (OUP, 2020).
