On Monday, 17 February 2025, a faculty from the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) facilitated a referral sensitization session on the CCJ’s Original Jurisdiction with the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago. The session was led by Mr. Justice Winston Anderson, Chairman of the CCJ Academy for Law, and included key contributors such as Ms. Gladys Young, Assistant General Counsel of CARICOM, Mrs. Ria Mohammed-Pollard, CCJ’s Communication and Information Manager, Judicial Counsel, Ms Chelsea Dookie, and Mr. Suraj Sakal.
The session provided valuable insights into the workings of the CCJ’s Original Jurisdiction, particularly, its Referral Process, and the Court’s role under the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas (RTC). The discussion was well received and aimed at enhancing the awareness and engagement of the legal fraternity of Trinidad and Tobago with this critical function of the CCJ.
