Lynette Seebaran Suite is an attorney at law and family practitioner. She is an activist and researcher in the women’s movement and has championed many a campaign, including for the introduction of domestic violence and sexual offences legislation in Trinidad and Tobago. She led the ASPIRE project for abortion law reform over 14 years from 1999 to 2013. Lynette was the recipient in 2012 of a National Award for Women in Development, Gold, in the field of Law. Lynette currently heads the law firm of Lynette Seebaran & Co.
Lynette was also the Chairman of the Equal Opportunity Commission from 2014 to 2020. For her services in the field of advocacy and public education in gender and human rights for vulnerable groups Lynette was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of the West Indies in 2021. Lynette headed the Family Lawyers Association until 2023 when she was elected President of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago, she is now in her third term.
