On 10 April 2025, the Chairman of the CCJ Academy for Law, the Honourable Mr. Justice Winston Anderson, attended the Third Forum of Human Rights Defenders in Environmental Matters, hosted by the Escazú Agreement Secretariat in Basseterre, Saint Kitts.
During the forum, Justice Anderson delivered a presentation on the topic of Access to Justice, with special emphasis on the landmark Maya Leaders case adjudicated by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ). His presentation highlighted the importance of safeguarding environmental rights through effective judicial mechanisms and the critical role of the judiciary in upholding the rights of Indigenous communities within the Caribbean context.
